the vet visit unexpectedly cost $160+ today, which I totally wasn't expecting, because of a bunch of extra tests. I'm glad Bijou is doing well, but we're pretty wiped out for this pay period.
I'll try to start this up again on the next payday, 12/4. UGH.
BLARGH.
ok, clean slate. from now until next payday (12/4), we are to average only $25/day. (instead of the previous $28). clean slate means, balance is even as of now, so we're starting over. already, even if it doesn't seem like much, this way of thinking about our budget has helped me see things, our habits, our day-to-day spending, differently, so I'm happy about that.
Ok, today's tallies:
$20.71 at Target for sheets, toothpaste
$23.72 at Joann's Fabrics, but I'll be paid back for that
daily total: $44.43, -19.43
total total: -19.43
daily tally: +28
monthly tally: -92
$6.46 oil for the Dodge
$30.07 gas for the Dodge
$41.57 Lowes (filter, insulation, mop, cleaning wipes)
$15.20 Food Co-op
plus assorted cash that doesn't count towards the total, because the cash had already been factored in.
Total for the day: $93.30, round down to 93
Daily tally: -65
Monthly tally: -120 (!!!!)
ok... that means 4.5 days of no spending. pfffft. thanksgiving/visitors coming up. blah.
I happened to find all these vegan (and a few non-vegan, for daiku) organic stuff on super clearance at Natur-Tyme, and I was thrilled enough to photograph it for blog posterity.
So Delicious coconut milks, regularly $5.39, reduced to $1.99
Whole Soy & Co. soy yogurts, 5 lemon (my favorite flavor!), originally $1.79, marked down to $.99, and a passionfruit originally $1.79, marked down to $.59
Silk creamer, originally $2.39, marked down to $1.39
Sweet & Sara marshmallows, originally $5+, marked down to $2.99
score!

this was in San Jose in 2004. Kerry and Erin took me to this crazy vegetarian restaurant where I had the best faux fish ever! I can't believe it's been so long since I saw Kerry. I did see Erin in 2006 when she came to NYC for a job interview, though. I really wish I could have a nice long trip back to northern CA soon....

Yes, another old picture.
This is where I lived from 2002-2005. Verano Place apartments, UC Irvine. 3 years, 3 roommates, 2 zip codes, 1 really good deal!
See that fire hydrant box to the left of the door? That's where two doves built a nest one spring. It was so cute, but so sad. They kept laying eggs, but because it wasn't a good place to build a nest, the nest would keep falling to the ground and the eggs kept breaking. They finally left after a few weeks, but they were the cutest little couple. The boy would go around gathering twigs for their nest while the girl sat around and cooed. If I ever opened the door and looked at the girl, the boy would stare at me threateningly from the roof. Awwww.
I'm on a roll with these old pictures! M. & I were driving back to Irvine from Vegas. It was so hot, I think my brain was melting. Here, I'm giggling at a plant that looks like a butt. Hee hee.
